Crossing the Channel
The first — or last — night of the drive
Come off the Tunnel at Coquelles, join the A16, and an hour later you are here. No périphérique, no town centre, no hunting for a parking space with a loaded roof box.
For a great many British travellers, the awkward part of the journey south is the first evening: too far to press on, too early to have arrived. This is a good place to break it. You park outside your room, you eat a proper French dinner without getting back in the car, and you leave after an early breakfast.

A location that solves a lot of problems
Neither a town-centre hotel where you circle for twenty minutes looking for a space, nor a soulless place on a retail park: somewhere open and easy to reach, minutes from the motorway and from the bay.
An hour from the Tunnel, and 1 km from the exit
Straight down the A16 from Coquelles, with the Calais and Dunkirk ferry ports the same sort of distance — and under a kilometre between the slip road and the car park. The natural first stop in France.
Parking that is never a problem
Large, flat, free and unbarriered. Caravans, motorhomes, coaches and lorries all fit, and you park outside your own door.
Good for families
Family rooms, a cot and high chair on request, a children's menu, and a large lawn where children can run while the meal goes on.
You need not drive again
Restaurant and bar on site, open to residents and non-residents alike. Dinner, a glass of wine, and bed thirty metres away.
A view nobody else has
The rooms, the dining room and the terrace all look onto the runways of Abbeville aerodrome. Visiting aircraft park on the grass a few metres from the tables; the microlight taking off over dessert is on us.

How far is the hotel from Calais and the Channel Tunnel?
About 90 km — roughly an hour on the A16 motorway, with no town centres to cross. It makes a comfortable first or last night in France, whichever way you are travelling. More on the stopover.
Is there free parking?
Yes. A large private car park, free of charge, flat and lit, with room for cars, caravans, motorhomes, coaches and lorries. You park directly outside your room.
Do you speak English?

Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs on a lead are welcome in the rooms and communal areas for a supplement of 6 € per stay. For hygiene reasons they are not admitted in the dining room.
Can we eat at the hotel?
Yes. The restaurant and bar are open to everyone, residents and non-residents alike, so you need not get back in the car once you have arrived. Lunch is served every day except Monday; dinner runs Friday and Saturday all year, and Tuesday to Thursday from May to the end of October.
